Ramadan 2027 falls in February and March, so fasting days in the UK are fairly short: from a little over eleven to a little over thirteen hours. Here are the key dates at a glance.

When does Ramadan 2027 start?

By the Umm al-Qura calendar (Saudi Arabia), 1 Ramadan 1448 is Monday, 8 February 2027. The first Tarawih is prayed on the evening of 7 February, and the first suhoor is in the early hours of 8 February.

By this calendar, Ramadan has 29 days, and Eid al-Fitr falls on Tuesday, 9 March 2027.

Many UK mosques follow local or global moon sighting or their own calendar, so the start or end can differ by a day. What counts is what your community announces.

Fasting times in UK cities

The fast runs from Fajr (end of suhoor) to Maghrib (iftar). Calculated with the Europe 2023 timetable, as in the Nur app and on the city pages:

City Day 1 (8 Feb) Fast Last day (8 Mar) Fast
London 05:34 – 17:02 11 h 28 04:40 – 17:53 13 h 13
Birmingham 05:41 – 17:07 11 h 26 04:45 – 17:59 13 h 14
Manchester 05:43 – 17:05 11 h 22 04:45 – 17:59 13 h 14
Bradford 05:41 – 17:02 11 h 21 04:42 – 17:57 13 h 15
Leicester 05:38 – 17:03 11 h 25 04:42 – 17:56 13 h 14
Glasgow 05:51 – 17:05 11 h 14 04:47 – 18:05 13 h 18

Daily times for the whole month are in the monthly timetable on each city page. Many UK timetables use a different Fajr angle, so your mosque’s suhoor time may be earlier or later by up to half an hour; some also stop eating a few minutes before Fajr (imsak) as a margin.

The clocks only go forward on 28 March 2027, after Ramadan, so all times above are GMT.

The last ten nights

The last ten nights begin with the 21st night on the evening of 27 February 2027. Laylat al-Qadr is sought in them, especially in the odd nights. The 27th night is on the evening of 5 March 2027. An Islamic night begins at Maghrib, so each night belongs to the following day.

Preparing well

  • Shift your sleep: from mid-January, go to bed a little earlier so suhoor isn’t a struggle.
  • Start small habits now: if you read one page of Quran a day in January, a juz a day in Ramadan comes more easily. More in building habits around salah.
  • Practise Fajr: if you get up for Fajr, you’ll get up for suhoor. Tips: how to wake up for Fajr.

Ramadan in the Nur app

From 30 days before, Nur shows a countdown to Ramadan, then iftar and suhoor at a glance. There is a suhoor alarm (iOS 26 and later) that rings 30 to 90 minutes before Fajr, an iftar countdown in the widget and Ramadan habits such as fasting, Tarawih and Qiyam in the last ten nights. You can shift the start by a day to match your mosque. Get Nur for free.
