    Al-Baqarah · 2:185

shahru ramaḍāna alladhī unzila fīhi l-qur'ānu hudan lilnnāsi wabayyinātin mina l-hudā wal-fur'qāni faman shahida minkumu l-shahra falyaṣum'hu waman kāna marīḍan aw ʿalā safarin faʿiddatun min ayyāmin ukhara yurīdu l-lahu bikumu l-yus'ra walā yurīdu bikumu l-ʿus'ra walituk'milū l-ʿidata walitukabbirū l-laha ʿalā mā hadākum walaʿallakum tashkurūna

The month of Ramaḍān [is that] in which was revealed the Qur’ān, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [the crescent of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey - then an equal number of other days. Allāh intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allāh for that [to] which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful.

    Al-Baqarah · 2:183

yāayyuhā alladhīna āmanū kutiba ʿalaykumu l-ṣiyāmu kamā kutiba ʿalā alladhīna min qablikum laʿallakum tattaqūna

O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous …

    Al-Qadr · 97:1-5

innā anzalnāhu fī laylati l-qadri ﴿1﴾ wamā adrāka mā laylatu l-qadri ﴿2﴾ laylatu l-qadri khayrun min alfi shahrin ﴿3﴾ tanazzalu l-malāikatu wal-rūḥu fīhā bi-idh'ni rabbihim min kulli amrin ﴿4﴾ salāmun hiya ḥattā maṭlaʿi l-fajri ﴿5﴾

Indeed, We sent it [i.e., the Qur’ān] down during the Night of Decree. And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit [i.e., Gabriel] descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.

    Al-Qadr · 97:1-5

    Al-Baqarah · 2:186

wa-idhā sa-alaka ʿibādī ʿannī fa-innī qarībun ujību daʿwata l-dāʿi idhā daʿāni falyastajībū lī walyu'minū bī laʿallahum yarshudūna

And when My servants ask you, [O Muḥammad], concerning Me - indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided.

    Ad-Dukhan · 44:3-4

innā anzalnāhu fī laylatin mubārakatin innā kunnā mundhirīna ﴿3﴾ fīhā yuf'raqu kullu amrin ḥakīmin ﴿4﴾

Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night. Indeed, We were to warn [mankind]. Therein [i.e., on that night] is made distinct every precise matter …

    Ad-Dukhan · 44:3-4
